What I Use (in case you're curious)

Camera: Nikon D-80

Lenses: Lensbaby--Composer, Nikkor 18-55mm, Nikkor 55-200mm

Extras: Custom Aperature Kit (Lensbaby), Tripod (duh)

Editing: Adobe Photoshop (sometimes Picnik.com for crazy effects, but rarely)

Pricing

In all honesty, I would feel guilty for charging anyone for my photos, especially since I'm not a professional. I won't charge anything for a session, outfit change, time slot, etc. If you want photos done by me, all you pay for is the prints that you order.

I edit all my pictures myself using Photoshop, so editing is included.

My account on Snapfish.com allows you and me to order prints online. I assure you that it's reliable--I've used it myself. I've had my account with them for years. It's very affordable (I hate the word cheap) and you will have professional-quality photos, I promise. They can be ordered in all sizes (wallets, 4x6, posters). When I make an album on my account, I will add the model and/or their family and allow them to access it at any time, allowing you to order your prints yourself. If you don't feel comfortable with handling it, just let me know and I'll be glad to help. If that option doesn't feel right, tell me and I'll be happy to put the files on a CD and let you order them through me. Again, no charge.

Scheduling

Being in high school, I have a tight schedule. However, my schedule has plenty of openings that are perfect for two or three hour sessions. As long as I know in advance,

I can take care of it.

There are always questions that I need answered, so when you contact me, let me know...

  • Who am I photographing? --- High school senior? Couple? Baby? --> Let me know.
  • Where? --- Indoor? Outdoor? Farm? Garden? Street? Home? --> I also have plenty of ideas.
  • When? --- Fall? Winter? Summer? Night? Early Morning? Special Event? --> Tell me

Planning

Make sure to bring some energy to a session--it's a lot of fun, but yes...it takes a while. Trust me, the perfect shot is well worth it.

Outfits: Don't wear anything you're not comfortable in. It will make your job and mine a lot easier. :) Don't wear things that draw attention from you: avoid loud or crazy patterns. Solid colors in medium to dark tones are usually more flattering, but I will leave the ultimate decision to you. If you're looking for pics out in a field or muddy area, bring extra shoes.  :]

Girls: As far as make-up is concerned, less is more. Accenting eyes and face shape (contour) is always a plus, and little powder to minimize shine and cover blemishes is always good. On the flip side, many people love being totally natural, and that's okay too.

Guys: Wearing a little powder to cover up shiney spots never killed anyone. ;) But don't worry. Don't do anything that will make you uncomfortable.
